Egle Banyte is a Lithuanian jewellery maker based in Belfast. Egle's work is handmade using traditional techniques and precious metals, yet manifesting a contemporary style. Her work relies heavily on geometric shapes as its primary framework. Her designs are characterised by clean lines, sculptural forms, symmetry and repetition. Egle’s inspiration for making jewellery comes from working with the metal itself. She enjoys working in silver and thinks it is a wonderful material because it is brilliant and delicate.
In 2018, Egle was awarded a Goldsmiths’ Company Precious Metal Grant, Egle won the New Designers Goldsmiths’ Company Jewellery Award and a Future Makers Award by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland.
